“What a great service! Got the number from the store I bought my Appliance from. Called Tony, left a message and got a call back the same day,. We made an appointment at my convenience , he was on time, polite, knew what the problem was almost immediately, service performed and dryer running great!”

“I called and they were able to come out the same day. The problem was diagnosed right away. He asked if I had another fridge I could put the food in so the fridge could defrost overnight. I said I did not but knew people who had room and coolers I could use. He said to not do that. They would come the next day with equipment that could defrost the fridge quickly. They came at the time they said they would both days. They were professional and considerate of my time.”

An electrical panel upgrade in Tampa Bay is one of those jobs that looks optional until it isn't. Most homes built before 1990 in Pasco, Hillsborough, and Pinellas counties were wired for 100-amp or 150-amp service — enough for the appliances of that era, not enough for an EV charger, a heat pump, and a home office running simultaneously.
Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels are a different problem. These brands have documented breaker failure rates and have been connected to house fires going back decades. Insurance companies in Florida are increasingly sending non-renewal notices to homes with these panels. If you have one, replacement isn't a future project — it's a current liability.
A standard 200-amp panel upgrade runs $1,800 to $3,200. What moves it higher: meter base replacement (adds $300–$500 and requires coordination with the utility), number of circuits, and older wiring that needs splicing at the new panel. We give you a written quote before we touch anything.
The job takes four to six hours. We schedule early morning starts — usually 7:00 to 8:00 AM — so power is restored before the afternoon heat peak. We pull the permit, do the work, and schedule the inspection. You don't need to call the county. The $89 diagnostic fee applies toward the job if you proceed.
License ER-13016759 covers all panel work in Pasco, Hillsborough, and Pinellas counties. If your insurance company needs documentation after the upgrade, we provide it.

When You Need It /
Signs You Need Panel Upgrades & Replacements
You Have a Federal Pacific or Zinsco Panel
These panels have documented breaker failures. Some breakers don't trip when they should — they let the circuit overheat instead. Insurance companies increasingly decline coverage for homes with these panels. If that's what's in your garage, replace it.
Your Panel Is Full
No room for new breakers. Every circuit slot is taken, and someone's already doubled up somewhere. This is when people get creative with extension cords instead of fixing the problem. A 200-amp panel with room to grow is the fix.
You're Adding an EV Charger or Heat Pump
A Level 2 EV charger needs a dedicated 40–50-amp circuit. A heat pump adds load the original panel wasn't sized for. If the panel is already near capacity, the new circuit goes in at the same time as the upgrade.
Breakers Are Tripping Repeatedly
A breaker that trips regularly either has too much load on the circuit or is failing. Old panels have old breakers. Sometimes replacing the panel costs less than diagnosing each breaker individually.
Your Insurance Company Sent a Notice
Some Florida insurers now require a licensed electrician's letter or proof of panel replacement as a condition of renewal. License ER-13016759 covers the work and the documentation.
Your Home Was Built Before 1980
Not every pre-1980 home needs a panel upgrade. But if the original panel is still in place and nobody has touched it in thirty years, the $89 diagnostic will tell you exactly where you stand.

What Does It Cost?
$1,800 – $9,600
Typical Range
Meter base replacement (if needed) adds $300–$500 and requires coordination with the utility. Number of circuits and older wiring that needs splicing at the new panel also move the number higher. Most jobs fall in the middle of this range.

The Process /
What to Expect
Diagnostic — $89
We assess your current panel, identify the brand, count circuit slots, check the meter base condition, and give you a written quote before any work is scheduled.
Permit
We pull the permit. Every panel replacement in Florida requires one. We handle it — you don't need to contact the county.
Replacement
Early morning start, usually 7:00–8:00 AM. Four to six hours. We disconnect the old panel, install the new one, label every circuit clearly, and test each one before we leave.
Inspection
We schedule the county inspection. The inspector signs off. You get documentation for your records and your insurance company.

FAQ /
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need a panel upgrade?
The main signs: breakers tripping repeatedly, lights dimming when appliances start, a panel that feels warm to the touch, or a Federal Pacific / Zinsco brand name on the door. An $89 diagnostic will confirm it.
Does a panel upgrade require a permit?
Yes. Every panel replacement in Florida requires a permit and county inspection. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection — included in the job.
How long does a panel upgrade take?
Four to six hours. Power is off for most of that time. We schedule early morning starts so you're back online before the afternoon heat peak.
Will my homeowner's insurance pay for a panel upgrade?
Unlikely to pay for it directly, but some insurers require replacement for continued coverage — especially Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels. Others offer a rate reduction after upgrade. Get the specifics from your agent before you schedule the job.
What's the difference between a 100-amp and 200-amp panel?
Capacity. A 100-amp panel was adequate for a 1970s home with a refrigerator, a few lights, and window units. It's not adequate for a modern home with an EV charger, heat pump, and home office. Most upgrades go to 200-amp service.
