I called and they were able to come out the same day. The problem was diagnosed right away. He asked if I had another fridge I could put the food in so the fridge could defrost overnight. I said I did not but knew people who had room and coolers I could use. He said to not do that. They would come the next day with equipment that could defrost the fridge quickly. They came at the time they said they would both days. They were professional and considerate of my time.

Refrigerator repair in Tampa Bay starts with an $89 diagnostic. Most refrigerators that stop cooling have one of a few specific failures: a bad start relay, a failed evaporator fan motor, a dirty or failed condenser fan, or a defrost system component. We identify the exact part, quote the repair, and fix it in one visit in most cases.

The start relay is the most common failure on Samsung and LG models — a $15–$30 part. A refrigerator that clicks but won't start, or cools intermittently, is often this one component. We carry common relays on the truck.

Defrost failures account for a large share of refrigerators that stop cooling but still run. The compressor cycles, the freezer may still be cold, but the refrigerator section warms up over a day or two. The defrost timer, thermostat, or heating element is usually the cause. We test each one individually — not just replace all three.

The $89 diagnostic applies toward the repair cost. We work on all major brands: Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire, KitchenAid, Maytag. Repairs are backed by a 12-month warranty on parts and labor.

Sometimes the problem isn't the component you'd expect. A Frigidaire with apparent defrost failure had a defrost thermostat and heating element that both tested fine. Deeper in the unit: a wiring connector that had corroded and burned through — the wire going to the inverter had failed at the connector, not the component. Nobody would have ordered that part. That's why we diagnose before we quote.

When You Need It /

Signs You Need Refrigerator Repair

Refrigerator Is Running but Not Cooling

The compressor cycles but the temperature keeps rising. This is most often a defrost system failure, a failed evaporator fan motor, or a bad start relay. The compressor itself is less commonly the cause — and we test everything before assuming it is.

Making Loud or Unusual Noise

A buzzing from the back is often a condenser fan motor struggling. A clicking when the compressor tries to start is usually a failed start relay. A loud hum is sometimes normal; a loud hum combined with poor cooling is not.

Water Leaking on the Floor

A clogged defrost drain is the most common cause — water backs up from the drain pan and overflows to the floor. A cracked water line for the ice maker is the second. We trace the source before recommending a repair.

Ice Maker Stopped Working

Ice maker failures are usually the ice maker module itself, a failed water inlet valve, or a frozen fill tube. We check each in the $89 diagnostic. If it's the module, it's a one-visit repair.

Frost Buildup in the Freezer While Fridge Section Is Warm

This pattern is a defrost system failure. The freezer still gets cold but the defrost cycle isn't running, so ice builds up on the evaporator and blocks airflow to the refrigerator section. Three components could cause it — we test each one.

What Does It Cost?

$120 – $1,350

Typical Range

Most common repairs — start relay, defrost components, fan motors — land in the lower half of this range. Sealed system repairs (compressor, evaporator coil) land at the top. We tell you upfront if the repair cost approaches the value of the unit.

$89 diagnostic fee applies toward repair cost.

The Process /

What to Expect

01

Diagnostic — $89

We pull the unit away from the wall, access the evaporator and condenser, test the compressor, defrost system, and fan motors, and identify the failed component. Written quote before any work starts.

02

Quote

We tell you the part, the cost, and how long the repair takes. The $89 diagnostic applies toward the repair. We don't start work without your approval.

03

Repair

Most repairs are done same visit. Parts we carry on the truck: start relays, defrost thermostats, evaporator fan motors, condenser fan motors, door gaskets, ice maker modules for common models.

04

Test

We verify the unit is holding temperature before we leave. We don't leave until the refrigerator is cycling correctly.

FAQ /

Frequently Asked Questions

Is refrigerator repair worth it or should I replace?

For repairs under $300 on a unit under ten years old, repair is almost always the better value. For a compressor replacement on a unit over twelve years old, the math changes. We'll tell you both numbers — repair cost and replacement cost — so you can decide.

How long does refrigerator repair take?

The diagnostic takes about an hour. Most repairs are completed same day. Parts that need to be ordered are typically available within one to two business days.

Do you work on Samsung refrigerators?

Yes. Samsung is one of the most common brands we see in Tampa Bay. The French door and side-by-side models have well-known failure patterns — start relays, ice maker failures, defrost system issues — that we diagnose and repair regularly.

Why is my refrigerator running but not cooling?

The compressor is running but cold air isn't reaching the refrigerator section. Most common causes: defrost system failure causing ice buildup on the evaporator, a failed evaporator fan, or a failed start relay. The $89 diagnostic identifies which one.

What brands do you service?

All major brands: Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire, KitchenAid, Maytag, Kenmore, Bosch. If you have a brand not listed, call — we'll tell you on the phone whether we stock parts for it.
